I don't know about the new replacement trim, but the original ones had a body color insert. It was the main color, not the secondary color, btw.

You must be registered for see images attach
The ones I found were ether silver or white in the center so you can paint them.

It says paint to match in the description... I wonder why they even put anything on them to begin with? Maybe it's for better paint adhesion.

Probably to make it as close to "finished product" as can be. One less step for the person who buys it, would be my guess.

Scuffed and primed for paint adhesion would be my guess. Or could just leave it and it somewhat matches the plastic grill shell.

If customizing, you can find guitar pick looking automotive wrap grade vinyl online. Will get as close as possible to the guitar pick laminate I’m redoing Lisa’s 85 C10 dash with. The cheap brushed aluminum stock stuff fell off in 2017…
