Front brake pads ceramic or semi matallic

Wanna see the rotors I just replaced on my Tahoe that had ceramic pads? Theres not even a ridge. They wanted more to turn em than it cost to replace with a set of AC Delco silver rotors.
Not saying anything against, just saying -as all of the comments in this thread have brought to conclusion - each has it's pro's and con's. Have used them all and have reached the same conclusion. What I was referring to was the Raybestos guide could use another column, as I described and would be fairly accurate. Maybe some usage scenerios could be added.

I looked at the power stop kits for some vehicle at some point. There were enough negative reviews sprinkled in here and there that I moved on. I don’t want to think about stress cracks on my rotors or leaking calipers from bad thread tapping. They do have a great marketing team that engaged with all the yootoobers.

For the most part on trucks, I like Bendix Severe Duty Fleet Metlocks or Wagner Severe Duty. Maybe Raybestos if they have an offering in their catalog that better fits your application.

If someone wants to go with “custom” setups on brakes, I’d stick with companies like Wilwood or Brembo.

Ya I kinda beat on vehicles from time to time.
Only 2 “newer” vehicles I’ve put rotors on since I’ve started using ceramic pads was a Mustang GT, no idea what pads it came with and A SRT 8 at about 150k miles running ceramic half those miles.
Last 3 trucks 150k, 190k and 135k on the current one, original rotors when they got sold, ceramic pads for most of their lives.
It’s simply fodder that ceramics wear out rotors and don’t stop well.

Nothing wrong with Powerstop. I use them more because EBC and Hawk are so damn expensive. Not the full kits but pads and the 2 sets of rotors mentioned above.

Seems whichever Chinese manufacturer was supplying them when I looked at them was having QC issues. I saw reviews with cracks in rotors and leaky calipers.

Brake pads are consumables, so I buy lifetime warranty from Autozone or O’rielly. Work fine, good service life, no questions when returned. Have an older (1969) Dodge that had an axle seal leak, Autozone had no issues giving me new shoe sets after I got the seals replaced.

My 85 C10 swb has 1.25” rotors and 11” rear brakes. One wheel cylinder leaking, same side axle seal blown, pinion leaking. Will likely be 100% whatever is on sale cheap at Rockauto or JC Whitless (car-parts dot com). New coils (4) for our “Pottyshack Vibe” (badge engineered Toiletta Matrix) was $40/set, work great.

Brake quality is a crap shoot. Neither China or India are well known for their QC, and pretty much all brake components come from one or the other.
