I was doing some research on antifreeze, one of the links took my to this video,so out of boredom I was watching it. OMG wait until he takes off the radiator cap you have to see it to believe it. And his 3/8 air ratchet reminds of the one I never use any more, because when it gets away from you it pins and smashes your hand against anything hard in the vicinity.

I've seen them that crappy many times before. Usually (but not always) a '94-'05 or so GM product that commonly had plastic intake gaskets and/or intake plenum that would fail. Lots of people blamed Dexcool for it, but I always blamed it on the fact that people were constantly dumping in stop-leak instead of having the problem fixed.

Although, several years ago here, I posted about my findings in the cooling system of my very own '88 Suburban that was just as bad. That truck had never seen stop-leak and had never had Dexcool in it. I'll see if I can dig up those posts.

And I still use my air ratchet. Cautiously of course, lol.

I replaced mine, although years of injuries and abuse later, with a more compact less powerfull one. So the bad boy doesn't come out often, the little one gets the first chance.

Found it, lol. Although my sludgy pudding stuff was darker than I remembered. The stuff I saw in customer vehicles was always a lighter brown color.

The fuel pump died in this rig about two years ago and I haven't moved it since. I wonder what the inside of the radiator looks like now...

I have seen that mud before. Mixture of stop leak and mismatch coolant. That one is crazy bad.

Guys used to laugh at my old half dead IR air ratchet. "No power", I never broke a bolt or tore up a knuckle.

My favorite air ratchet is a 1/4" closed head Matco. Did break it a couple times [abuse] but Matco is good about repairing it. Doesn't have enough power to rip a knuckle off, small for tight places and speeds up the job. However not an inexpensive tool. A co worker bought a super powerful 3/8" air ratchet. Used it once, scared the crap out of me. Also have a closed head Matco 3/8". Doesn't get used much.

So I watched that video thinking why not, maybe I'll learn something, then like you said wait till he takes the cap off and I immediately thought WTF ????, then started thinking was regular coolant added to Dexcool to cause that because I was once told when that is done the coolant can gel up, but this scenario is off the charts for what caused that crap issue. Thanks for sharing and saw some cool tools too.
