Hi all - I’m going through Facebook marketplace ads trying to find a replacement high note horn. Does anybody know if they used the same horns for all years, 1973-1987? I know not all trim levels had dual horns, but it would save me time if it turned out that they used the same Delco Remy horns for all years.

I just got back from a local junk yard. They had a 1976 step side that had dual horns. Both are located on the drivers side, the low note is mounted exactly the same as it is on my 81 C10 and the other is mounted at 90 degrees right next to it - same high note unit but no bracket.

So I have my answer. Decided not to take it as I’m sure to find an exact working replacement in the next week or so.

My 76 has dual horns, one mounted on the driver's side of the core support and one on the passenger side.

Typical GMs (Delco-Remy made) with the low and high note horns are notes A and F through the 90s. The brackets can change depending on application and they switched from metal to plastic at some point. Sometime in the 90s they also switch to a power and ground wire, instead of just being grounded through the mounting bracket.
The horns can be identified from the note molded into them. I have circled the note on these horns. These pictured are C and D notes. These came in Buicks and Cadillacs as the optional quartet horns that sound a lot like a train.

I only recently realized the option was available in Roadmasters too. I saw a pair (they weren't popular in this region) with horns tucked in both the right and left front fenders.

Too bad you can't get tunable ones - I'd love to get the notes for a D-minor chord and sound like the phantom of the opera coming down the street....

If you look closely at the horns, there is a very oddly shaped head sticking up that is some sort of adjustment. I have not tried it myself, nor have the musical / note recognition to appreciate how it might change the sound.

Another good option is the Fiamms if you just want loud.

I remember my grandpa talking about how his old Buicks with the better horns were better cars than my Dad's Chevrolet "washing machines". He was just joking with my dad, of course.

Good news is that I found a horn about an hour away and am going to pick it up tomorrow. At 8mpg, the gas is going to cost me more than the horn, but he might also have a grille that fits so Incan finally get rid of that gawdawful billet grille.

Most Caddies from the '80s and '90s were a three-horn setup, low-mid-high. GM still sells the mid tone (but I don't have the part number with me). I installed the mid-tone on my '67 Olds 98 13 years ago.

That said, I have small air horns on the parts pile for the next time the truck is in the shop...
