Of course it could have been ordered with it, built w/o and then put on afterwards, but that is not too realistic, is it?

Oddly enough - that happened with my '65 GTO.

It was ordered with the tach/rally cluster (RPO 504) but was built without. No idea why.

We stuck a Sun tach on the column after we got it home, which is still on there.

Modifications to an order that occur before the build sheet is broadcast are captured in typeface; modifications after the build sheet is published are captured in pencil.

Geez. I just thought of an even better story (closer to home):

I ordered my '87 just like my dad and I always did: six cylinder, manual trans, manual windows, manual locks, rubber floor mat. But I added a few trinkets to make it more pleasant, like power steering, power brakes and (later) A/C.

I also wanted cruise control and the gages/tach cluster.

The problem was - my truck got placed on stop order.

Short version is that when it came off stop order the engineering specifications people forgot to show that cruise and the tach could be available with the MY6 trans. So I had to change the order to delete those so it could get built.

After I got it home (around this time of year in 1986) I procured a tach cluster over the counter and installed it. For the cruise update I ordered a dealer kit, which included everything required, and put that on myself.

So - ordered with cruise control and tach cluster - built without - put on immediately afterwards.

amazing, the color in the exact code 521 is available. I hope it is the right or I´ll have to paint the whole bumper to keep it decent. may be I have to anyway as there sure enough is aging to compensate

I'd take the bumper off clean it, prep it, and paint the whole thing.

Crazy how anything can really happen. Well, who knows the truth bout my bumper, it at least fits the picture

Why the reluctance? We’ve probably spent more time discussing it in this thread than it would take to get ready to paint. And whether it was argent colored originally or not, or installed at the factory or not, white looks better and matches your truck with the base model white bumper and mirrors.

Fair enough. Then this is the perfect starter project. Few bolts, couple wires, no fancy tools or equipment or knowledge needed. and you can get a great looking paint job on a bumper like that with just some good rattle can paint!
