Hey everyone,

Recently picked up a 1980 K10 Scottsdale with the 5.7L small block v8 and TH350 transmission.

Frame is in good condition. Drivetrain seems decent. I am still working through the engine bay. Of course, it need some of the standard body panel replacement (cab corners, cab footwells, cab supports, fender arches, and bed cross supports).

First goal is work through the engine bay and drivetrain. I am having issues finding resources that show standard engine components and determine what i am missing. I am familiar with the standard components (alt, carb etc) but i have no experience with evap or vacuum systems. Basically, i want to determine current state before i make changes. There are loose wires and wires that go nowhere. Id like to identify and label.

It also has an aftermarket and janky push button start. Id like to revert back to the column ignition.

I am still in the research phase so open to thoughts and opinions. I am dumb but hope to learn a ton throughout this process.

Hope i am in the right place.

Upper right corner is what looks like a magnify glass hit it and type in some keywords when working on a specific part. Chances are someone has already been down that road and there will be lots of information immediately. Upper left corner are 3 horizontal dashes, hit that, then hit forums, scroll down on that page and there will be the resource library and all the different specific forumns.

I am new here too, and much of what I knew of such vehicles I forgot circa 2003, which is probably the last time I started a vehicle with a carburetor. a good bunch here, and many with the same problems and frustrations. (some with a fruck ton of knowledge)

see this section: https://www.gmsquarebody.com/forums/the-squarebody-reference-library.52/

charm.li hosts a whole bunch of old scans,...1982 is the earliest year for Chevy and GMC. (so similar for the books,...its a old site host in Lichtenstein.

I hope your glove box has a good copy of the RPOs visible. (some are just gone from dampness etc but can be gotten)
(remember 1980 may not be exactly the same as 1981 etc,....so light blue paint, could be pearl in one year, and metallic the next with the same #,...and Olympic RPO descriptions means the pinstripes...in whatever flavor they matched with your paint, starting with the 1980 games but continuing for a long time).

Says all my iphone jpegs are too large
IPhone has a share setting on each pic to make the file size smaller. other thought: email it to yourself and work it on a computer to make the file size smaller,...or post them to a host site and link back here.
