Now you just need an airbrushed mural on the side, side pipes, trick wheels, lift shackles in the rear, bubble window and a Sammy Johns 8-track tape.

i saw a jet black short G van in town the other day, perfect shape

A white roof and a decal in the rear portion would go hard

Kinda like this but gloss instead, and had different wheels
And it was older, this looks like its got square lights probably? the one i saw had the old circular ones

Ideally I'd have two G-vans. One along the lines of this:

Jan cleaned the door jams, an her and I installed new weatherstripping on side and back doors. She also had the air conditioning fixed, and blows COLD! I will get it on the lift today, and install new shocks, and check for leaks and fluid levels.

Here are some photos: Jan got the painting done, came home the other day with a bunch of Ryobi stuff, scrubber, drill, drill driver, now she has her own tools. Put new KYB shocks on, and they helped. Steering is a little sloppy, need to get this fixed B-4 we head to Bonneville speedway for the World of speed. Bought Magnet semi-gloss paint, used it before, Yeah I told her to wear gloves.....that stuff does NOT come off easy. Had to use Gunny-solv and scotch bright but didn't get it all. Maybe next time. Harry Bugger our cat may go with us, he likes to travel, yeah, he's cool.

Jan wanted to walk the beach on her 70th, so we loaded up and went to where she stayed as a traveling nurse, Ocean City RV resort, a hidden gem. Back story, Jan has had two back surgeries in less then 6 months, been poorly for a year before that, It's been tough, but we made it. Why do women need so much...stuff? First night we discovered Jan forget the blankets. We about froze, but the next night had a great big sleeping bag. The last picture is the first night, all you can see is Jan's nose.

We have a tight fam, thank the Lord, takes a ton of work but they that could, came to honor her, and man it was fun. Had a Tsunami warning because of the Russa 8.8 quake, but we still went to the beach, though it was posted. The water was choppy but no higher then normal. We had a blast, and I think I have convinced her we do not need three stoves and everything else. We are learning what is necessary. Weather was a lovely 65 degrees. A future heater and A/C are on the list.

What part of Washington are you in? I think my relatives are moving to Blaine or Bellingham, somewhere in the NW corner. I know the summers are nicer than Texas, what about the winters?

There's about a million and a half videos on YouTube with different Van Lifer builds. You know if she gets this van and builds it, you'll be building another one in a few short years. Reason being, she's going to be wanting one that's taller and bigger. I've been following some van lifers for several years. You'll be lucky if all she wants is a bigger van and not a bus. Seems like many bus lifers become van lifers after awhile, and many van lifers become bus lifers after awhile. I myself prefer buses, but of course you can convert a bus to a whole house, not a camper van. Also much more expensive to maintain if you don't know anything about diesel mechanics. If you want, I can probably find you some van build videos to watch. Or you might just want to watch some van build tours where all you see is the completed builds to get ideas.

Here's my starts..

The first little bus I bought for $500 and was going to put a gas big block and Turbo 400 in it since it came with no engine or trans. I paid $500 for it. Sold the hood and 1/4 fenders for $500 to get my money back, and robbed many parts off of it and sold some for profit. I still have it and stay in it at my off grid property when I go out there. I have solar on it and it has a fridge, TV, Wifi Router, runs my computer and lights, AC for a few hours a day and a diesel heater in the winter time.

The 2nd one, Freightliner FS65 will be sold soon. It's loaded up with lumber for building things at my property.

The 3rd one is at my shop in OKC and I run a power cord to it.

The 4th one I bought at auction the same time I bought the 5th one. I sold the 4th one for a $4500 profit. which covered the cost of #2 and #3, so they're now FREE buses too.

The 5th one is my baby and I plan on building it out to be a fully self contained RV. It's a 2010 Blue Bird Vision with a Cummins 6.7 and Allison 2500. I'll be removing the handicap lift. This one has a taller ceiling, flat floors with no wheel wells, front and rear integrated AC units, air ride, air door and seat. Only 132,000 miles. It's a sweet ass bus.

Where does a person find the good deal on these busses? I need one for 2 different projects.

Don't know if this is of any benefit or not. But you can take premade shelving the kind that uses pcv pipe lay it out just the bottom section several just the bottom sections. By that I mean 1st shelf 1st pipes second shelf, stop make a grid of those, a piece of plywood on top,and a mattress. Now you have an easy to assemble, easy to remove platform bed.

I too will do a camper van when the kids are bigger.

I'm targeting the ford e series passenger van series. Think what you see at every church lol. Plan is to buy one from such a church.

Just big enough to fit a fam of 4.

I found a 2005 e450 6.8L v10 that would be perfect. Just testing the waters though as the kids are far too young at the moment.

OK, next on the list that I have never done before is a sturdy roof rack. We have a Inergy two battery solar generator that will power us off grid. I am making (of course) my own rack out of unistrut, (helps having a cool son-in-law who owns his own electrical business,) but this van has no provisions for mounting. There are a ton of videos showing unistrut racks, but none for old vans like ours. Having said that are there any "squares" out there that have seen or done this. IE, how do you bolt is on, that is the problem.

Look at some van ladder racks, they clamp to the drip rail, you'll understand how to do it once you see one.
