What new tools have you got lately?

Mine too. Along with various pieces of pipe or solid round stock.

1985ish I was going to buy a set,I was real new still,the newest and youngest guy in the shop. Tim,my exact opposite,oldest,most experienced,most talanted,biggest snap on box I still have ever seen. Says to me,why? Well it will be handy for driving in races etc. He say you have everything you'll ever need ,between your sockets a couple of drifts,and old races,buy something you really need but don't have. They still haven't turned up in the I really need column. Wow remembering the beginnings. That man taught me a lot. Taught me zero decks and all kinds of cool stuff back in the 80s.

Yeah, I'll be honest that it would be really nice to have a complete set in a case. As opposed to digging through my toolboxes, the work bench, the barn, the other garage, etc to find something of appropriate size.

I think it would be handy too,sure wouldn't bag on any one for having them. Edit I'm just so use to not having them I just don't ever think about it.

I paid more for the tire machine than I wanted, but I've always wanted and have needed one many many times, this won't do great with new or fancy wheels, but for all my steel wheels this thing is the ticket, especially when you are 30 miles from town. I'd like to have a more modern machine, but for how much and what I need it for, an old machine will serve me fine.

Came with all the fixins, even a lube bucket and a bunch of valve cores and caps. All the tools and pieces seem to be there.

For right now the casters are cool, but when it comes to the first tire, it's gonna piss me off lol. These machines basically have to be bolted to the floor, otherwise you can move them around too easily while doing tires. They are also junk casters lol

We have a coates 40/40 at work, ours is on a pallet. Love that machine but we got a coates stand up machine and holy crap what a differance.

Needing to remove some connectors in the bulkhead assembly, I went on amazon and grabbed a pin release kit. It looks like nothing is safe now, but man that's a lot of choices. Just finding the ones applicable to the square will take a minute. Still, another step closer. Once I figure out which one it is, lol

I lost my reference for what those connections in the fuse box conglomeration are called. Something something 8, something something 9??, anyone know what im not remembering? I saw it in a thread on this site, but can't find it to save my donkey.

Packard 56 connectors? or 59 series (they are wider than the 56) were used on stuff like headlight connectors and such.

It's a completely different ball game lol. But I don't see modern coats machines for less than $2000 well used. I just don't do enough tires to justify a newer machine.

I busted down a spoke wheel with a bias ply, that ain't been off in 50 years for sure. The spoke wheel didn't fit on the machine great because of the design and the beads were super rusty but it didn't take long to get it off. Definitely did have a minute of struggle as I havent run a machine in a decade but once or twice lol, and they were modern machines.

But also a normal wheel with the same rust would have went way easier. The spoke wheel and bias ply definitely hindered the most.

I bought a set of those (bigger set, came with 2 more rings full). Struggled FOREVER to find one that worked for what I was doing. Finally did but haven't touched them since. Gave them to my buddy cuz they pissed me off so much lol. I want to either find a better organized set to buy or get that set back from my buddy and organize them into like sets

Got this yesterday. I was in the 82 letting it do it's weekly warm up while I'm not driving it due to transmission shifting problems. When it just dies. Wouldn't start back up. So me being alone it's hard to see if it has spark. I don't think it does so I got this so I can see it while cranking it over.

Okay a little tip for everyone. These things I won't say they are worthless,they aren't. But for most of you this will be free and a better indicator as to not just spark but adequate spark. Take an old plug bend the ground electrode way back like 1/4 inch gap. Clamp a negative jumper cable to the plug body clamp the other end of the jumper cable to the block. Take a visible plug wire pull it off a plug put it on your tester you just made,put the tester somewhere you can see it and crank. The reason for the huge gap,you are firing in open atmosphere. It's real easy to get a decent spark in open atmosphere. In the engine you are dealing with compression and fuel,so you need a huge gap in atmosphere,to be sure it will fire under compression. Almost free tool a jumper cable and an old plug.

I was helping my boss get his air compressor sorted out, we were at his parents place robbing parts off of another compressor when the phone rings and my parents came across this at a garage sale. Rubbermaid plastic cart, asked if I was interested. $20 later I have another cart for the shop.

My buddy was coming up to drop his truck off so I had him pick it up from home for me. Already put it to work.

wanted to get a "spread" laser line tool to line up the LS upper mount A/C to the crank. $65 at HF. Will be looking at other options.
