Little over a year ago I bought a 84 K10 in Vermont. It originally had a 305, someone put a 307 in and I want to put a 427 in. Truck originally had a 700r4 and I put a TH400 in. I just want to make sure that the shift linkage is all compatible. I also read that one of the heads has a different exhaust flange angle. What does everyone use for long tube headers. Looking for a ceramic coated set. Will a set for a 454 bolt on and still have the clearance?

This is my first frame off resto and first time messing with a chevy

Is the 427 a tall deck motor or a normal BBC? If its out of a kodiak or c60 its a tall deck. If that is the case normal 454 headers won't fit properly.
Im not sure, i attached some photos of it. It was my father's engine back when he used to race on dirt. I know nothing about it. I reached out to the engine builder to see if he can remember what it has for parts inside and he can't. Intake is from a marine appliance, has a reverse rotation firing order stamped on it

Do you know the cam specs? Might wanna figure that out before bolting it to the 400. don't wanna end up with too low, or too high of a stall speed in your converter. Being that you say it was a dirt track car, I'd assume it's probably built for higher rpms, instead of low rpm torque.

Pic #2 appears to show a block casting number of 361959 which Mortec.com shows to be a 454.
It very well could be. That would make more sense. The internals are out of a race boat that had a 454. The block froze and cracked all the parts were put into this block ran again in the boat then taken out and had a standard rotation cam put in

I don't. Thats why I reached out the engine builder that built this in the late 80 to early 90s, he can't remember. The engine would idle at 1k rpms so it it aggressive. Once its out of storage I'll pull the timing cover off and see what it says along with the oil pan to see what's in there

When rat engines are run in pairs in a boat, one rotates backwards so there is no prop wash. Since you stated a standard rotation cam is installed, the firing order on the manifold in wrong. Normal GM firing, 18436572.

Welcome to the forum!

We like pictures, so you did good. Engine picture, not a tall deck.

You are correct. But this was a single engine application, its because it went through a Vdrive and to help the boat make shaper turns. Was in a gold cup race boat. Scotty-too G-27
