Have a 1987 gmc sierra 5.7 tbi. Motor and trans are both jasper rebuilds with about 70k miles on the rebuilds and 140k on truck. This thing is completely gutless. Still running the original fuel injectors and throttle body. Going down road , stomp it down for kick down to engage its like kick down doest want to engage and when it does it just has no power whatsoever. Also if you mash it down and it does not kickdown, it kinda really faintly diesels and the check engine light will come on. Still runs, idle fine. Pull over, turn it off and back on and light goes out and its fine.Could new injectors help? Or is this motor just that gutless? Thanks

My 350 TBI burb was not gutless. It would pull heavy trailers no issue, down shift when I stepped on it. Sounds like your stuff isn't set up right or maybe just needs some maintenance. Adjust timing, set TV cable correctly, plugs, wire, cap and rotor. When's the last time any of that was checked. Is the exhaust plugged. Lots of things could be going on ,just all the sudden thinking injectors,we'll could be,could be a lot of other things also. As @fast 99 said find out what code you have and start doing some diagnostics.
