wished I could find a free frame or cab, or somebody donate one.

I saw a truck frame at my uncle's place, he asked me if I could use it or knew anyone who wanted it. Immediately I thought of you but after looking at it I could tell it was an S-10 frame. He has a C10, unknown year but doesnt seem interested in getting rid of it.

And a buddy of mine was after me to buy a truck cab off him for $800, I told him I didnt have the cash. Next time I saw him he wanted $500, still didnt have it. Then he was willing to give it away. Living in the city you cant just have stuff like that sitting around or I woulda took it. I think it was an 86 model C10 with a/c. He had alot of work done to it and had it painted blue. Since it was an 86 I couldnt use my antique tags on it but I really wanted it.

Does that mean you have to pass emissions stuff with it as if it's a 2000 or do they still consider it an 87 when they do emissions tests?

The only thing left on mine from the original 77 truck is the cab, frame, tranny and rear end. At some point, the tranny and rear end will go to but that's in the future at some point.

No emissions test here.....Last few vehicles I had inspected, they just verified the VINs and sent me on my way.. the only reason they had to be inspected to begin with was because I had bought them out of state. This truck and all others I've bought "in-state" have never had to have emissions testing............

I wished it was a c10 frame and wished he still had the cab to give away lol I'd be set. Except for the gas money to drive over and get it. It'd take 2 trips I don't have a trailer, would have to either rent one and put my hitch back on or throw the cab in my bed of the 88 and then go back for the frame and have it hanging out or throw it over top of my 88 cab and hope it doesn't bent the cab in lol.

Got pics of the frame your uncle has?

I'll keep my eyes peeled for you too, man. I'm not sure if coming out to the KC area is too far for you or not but it may be worth it if the cost of the item(s) is free! :D

I wouldn't stress the title so much, as long as nothing is stolen you should be okay to work on it. about 8 or 9 years ago I got a 76 Dodge colt GT from behind my dads buddies house with no title. We just filed for an abandoned title, they ran the vin and gave me a new title, This was in New Mexico though...

I aint too worried since it'll take awhile to build it or even find it lol, but just wondered what I'd have to go thru and what they'd do.

I think here in WV you call the state police, they come out and inspect it for VIN numbers and run them if they find any to verify it isnt stolen. Then they give you a form to take to the DMV for a title.

well i found one deal so far, don't have the cash for it though.

a 2wd short bed frame complete rolling for a hundred, or complete drivetrain in it for $350
he has a cab but the door post is rotted out, thus why he has this frame and drivetrain. if I had the $350 I'd buy it all and have him to throw in the other cab, then I could hit a junkyard that I know of, find a post, have it cut off and weld it back in myself.

Too bad I don't have the cash. I only got like $40 to play with now and it'd cost me that much in gas to go get it, let alone rent a trailer which is like $50 last I checked.
