By "control the carb" do you mean the choke??

I guess you could wire the choke heater to the ignition switch, but it would be better if it's only operating after the engine is running.

I may be wrong it’s happened before
But the top one is the pressure switch
For the carb / fuel delivery etc...
the lower one is actually the sender that runs the gauges
But what do I know

Yep, 2nd one is needed for the choke to work. It also controls the Choke light on the dash too.
