Who's truck is this anyone know. I want more pics and more details. What wheels and tires? How much lift? It's giving me Ideas. I'm not sure how much lift is there, but Im thinking that lift,as a body lift would give me clearance for a 4l80e. Anyone know how much body lift Id need to clear a 4l80?

Sometimes I write things and I don't write it the way I should have or spell check gets me. In this post I was wondering how much lift on what size tires are we looking at. And since I was going 4l80 anyway I figured 1/2 the lift as a body lift, 1/2 of the lift with springs or blocks. Is going to give me.more clearance for the 4l80 and still maintain mostly stock suspension geometry. Guesses as to lift? Wheels and tires? @SquareRoot has me even questioning if the 4l80 even needs more clearance. Is this true on a C and a K I own both. A 75K and an 86C I'd like to have 4l80s in each.

4L80 was used from the factory in '91 model squares. I've noticed several '91 C20 Burbs and '91 C30 crew cabs that had the K series floor hump. I don't know if it was for clearance, or to simply use one floor stamping as production wound down. I suspect the latter.

Sorry, I realized I said C and K. It's just a habit. R and V is what I meant.

Looks like a 4” lift. Pretty certain. And 33”ish tires.
By comparison, our K20 is 4” (5” in front now) on 35s.
Not sure I’d fiddle with a body lift.
4” of lift is nothing special and only requires a drop Pittman or drag link. And maybe axle shims. The front of the GMC was shimmed and I removed them (one was broken) and didn’t put them back in. Drives fine.
Except one thing I’m not certain I’m comfortable with the stock front driveshaft length at 5” of lift. Don’t know exactly how much of the splines are engaged as it was a quick job when we added the Zero Rates in front (1” more to clear the 35s due to wheel offset and tread/tire size. It works in 4wd but before I ever did any serious wheeling I’d look at it harder.

As far as I know, there is no need for any special lift to clear a 4L80e in a squarebody, mine is factory and I know a guy who put an LS and 4L80e in his '77 K20 with no lift.
Everybody keeps talking about K's but what about C's?

I have seen a 2wd '91 dually, technically an R30 not a C30, that like my truck had a 4L80e stock, I don't believe GM changed the floor pan enough to need a lift to fit a 4L80e into where a 4L60, turbo 350 or turbo 400 sat.

Now trying to put an allison in a squarebody takes a body lift, but wayyy different designs.

??? Lifted 2wd?
No didn't know if the 4l80 would clear the floor on the 2wd, on the 4wd I could do a body lift,if needed. Well gentlemen I owe you apologies. I originally was talking about my K then I got thinking about the C,so that had to be confusing. Now get over it!! Lol
