I believe that Firestone still makes the Transforce AT in 16.5" sizes.

Speciality Tires of America has some offerings in vintage styles.

Interco makes oversized offroad tires in the 16.5" sizes, as well as a street terrain type tire (the model name escapes me at the moment).

Doesn’t make sense one bit to keep the 16.5 rims unless you’re going for a 100% correct restoration, which it don’t look like. and 16s were stock on your 82 anyway.
16” 8 lug rims are dime a dozen, steel or alloys, hubcap nubs or not, new or used.
Keeping the 16.5s is even more fruitless than keeping 17s on any newer truck. (Although a couple mfgs are making heavier load rated 17s again recently).

Otherwise with 16.5s you’re basically limited to Firestone pavement pounders or $500/swampers. Amazon sells both fyi

Like others have said if you can go to 16" wheels you'd be better off. If you need or want to keep the 16.5, Firestone Transforce they make one size 8.75R16.5. I ran them on my old motorhome until we sold it 7 years ago. They are designed to haul weight on pavement, and they are great for that and were great on my RV, but I would not be happy with them on my pickup as I prefer an AT tire. Also 16.5 tires are not cheap.

I'm finding that these days tire rack is not a good option for pricing. Amazon general beats them. If you go for the Firestone's you might as well bit the bullet and get them at a Firestone store so you get the whole Firestone warranty package.

I've always had good experiences with simple tire, but haven't used them in a few months. Have things changed?

I usually buy a set of 4 tires online with every project truck I drag home. Tirebuyer.com is pretty handy; sometimes I simply google the tire size and click on the "shopping" tab and can find a deal.

If Firestone is the only way to keep 16.5" wheels I'd throw them in the trash. I've dealt with Firestone once and won't ever go backto one of their stores again.

I'd also go with a size that is easier to find. Never know when you'll be out an about and need a replacement in a hurry and as you have found that won't happen with 16.5.

I would be good with either stock-sized or oversized tires. I have found a military surplus 30 minutes from my house that has 35x10.5x16.5 Good Year wrangler tires for $135 a piece. The tires were made in 2018 and have light tread use.

16.5's are like 305s, flat tappet cams, carbs and red-headed stepchildren. My apologies to any red- headed stepchildren.

They just left a very sour taste in my mouth, they took all my money for a set of winter tires I needed bad. The website said nothing about them being out of stock or not available or whatever. So they ****** me for a couple weeks, all because they can't put (out of stock) in the ad, or not let you put them in your cart and pay for them, then wait 2 days to email me they're out of stock.

This was a year or so ago.

Also their website kind of sucks to navigate, tirebuyer had the tires I wanted for cheaper and they shipped to my door in 2 days! The last set I ordered from tirebuyer, shipped to my door in 3 days. I have nothing but great stuff to say about them. They also tell you when tires are out of stock!!

That’s decent unless they cooked in the sun for 4 years first. Which they probably did.

Recently, like today, Discount Tire was almost the best price on a set of tires for the wife’s car. Definitely the most convenient. And the tires were $4/ea more than Amazon. And a few bucks less than a couple other online places.
Ordered online and scheduled install appt in one shot. Out in less than an hour with free balancing rotations and tire repair. (Which I don’t usually care bout. Until it basically is free and convenient)
