I have a 1979 jimmy and I converted my 203 to part time. Installed selector hubs and pulled the transfer case and rebuilt it. The rebuild only took two days because of my laziness. Another thing I read was to fill the transfer case, then raise the rear end about six inches and fill the case till your finger gets oil on it. As for the lock light being on, have a shop or someone good with electrical work check it. A switch mar be stuck or a bad wire.
