What Transmission came with the 81 c10 305 ?

I was wondering what transmission came with the 81 c10 with a 305 and is there anyway that I can check ?

Is there still a sticker in the glovebox with the options? That would tell you.

Count the bolts on the pan and the shape of the pan. Google the pattern, theres many diagrams to show you

Also the location of the modulator... assuming its not a 700R wich im going to bet its not if it factory.

I believe the stock automatic in '81 was the TH350, since IIRC the 700R4 overdrive transmission was not offered in trucks until '82. However, GM did some wierd things those days, like starting to install new options at the end of the old model year, so sometimes there was a carryover from one year to the other.

Use the pictures in the previous post to verify the pan on your tranmission. Your column shifter should not have a position for overdrive, only D, L2 and L1 forward positions.

Mostly likely an TH 350/400 As 75gmck25 said the 700r4 wasn't available until 1982 along with the 6.2 diesel which 70% of the trucks that starting year had a 6.2 / 700r4 combo.

Sweet little truck though, I'd prefer a 250 Six and 3 spd!
