I welded the base and secured it to 2x3/4 plywood for 1.5 inch thick, bolted with carriage bolts up from the bottom, makes the base very stable. The plywood bolts to the floor with concrete anchors. I started mounting wheels at 14 including split rims. Bubble balancers and coates manual machines were what every body used including the shops. Last time I worked at a shop with a manual machine and bubble balancer was mid?/late? 80s. Using them now just seems natural, and convienent. It is disappointing that the Chinese came up with their weirdo design that doesn't work for $hit instead of copying old coates stuff. I've got a complete old coates tireman now,but I've got the HF machine modded enough it's not worth it to swap them out, right now( eventually though) I do use the coates bar though.

Did the Y method balance on my daughter's Kia SUV when I replaced her front tires a month ago. She ripped it up the turnpike this past weekend 80-90 said it felt fine. That's two for two. Thanks again. Now if I can get her to slow down some...

Finally bought a parts washer. I've needed one for decades. Needs assembly of course.

I also got some pails of parts cleaner from Napa. I'm ashamed to admit how much this stuff costs. It's $$$$, but damn it works well. Yes, it says right on the lid that it is not recommended for parts washers, but years of personal testing in the parts washer at work tells me that it won't kill the parts washer.

I also bought a new set of drill bits. I've still been using a not-quite full set that was given to me 25 years ago. I've tried these goofy tipped ones before, they work really well. Only real downside is I can't sharpen them on the bench grinder.

I needed another socket set like a hole in the head.

But,

Was at tractor supply last night and spied this in a display by the register, was $34.99, marked down from $70

Hmm, not bad, nice basic set.

Bring it to the register and she scans it and says my total is $19 and some change? Ok, pay and get the receipt and find out an additional 50% was taken off.

For a $17 set before tax I think that is hard to beat. Make a nice basic set to keep in a vehicle or what have you.

Guess I'm stopping by TSC tonight or tomorrow, that's a steal! Plus I'm a Gearwrench fanboi so...

It varies by location. Some stores are doing some remodeling/reorganization and they have various things on clearance. And when they really want stuff to move, the clearance stuff goes 50% off.

A couple months ago, I got a pair of the large Weathguard brand ($) truck boxes, a large steel job box, a large plastic camping/hunting "tailgate box", a gas powered power washer and several other things. It was all on super markdown clearance, plus 50% off, plus my wife's discount. I won't say what I spent, but I feel like I robbed a bank, lol.

I've always found it hilarious that I feel guilty after getting a really good deal on stuff lol

I at least feel guilt in the moment of acquisition lol especially if it's not a business.
