Finally got the air exchanger out of the K1500. Now to work it over, clean it, lube all the hinges, and replace the heater core. Yep, it was an obvious leaker. Found where it was leaking no problem. Looks like something may have made it's way into the vent box and poked a hole in one of outer core tubes. Looks to be easily repaired but I'd imagine it's pretty dirty anyway.

Can you repair that yourself with solder dude? I wish I was there helping. Any pics? I know you busting your ass and running tight on time. Just want to help share some of the misery, lol.

I started with pics on the inside, but noway to get pics of the 2 lower bolts. Can't get a camera in there. So I pretty much quit taking pics at that point.
Sure you can always fix a brass or copper heater coil or radiator for that matter IF you can find the leak in the core. I just cut the tube on both sides of the leak, bend it over to kink it off on both sides, then hit the pinch with a dab of solder. That kills off the tube though and water will no longer circulate threw that one tube.

I've actually fixed radiators before with needle nose pliers when I was on my way home from the desert out shooting one weekend when I lived in Cali. A rock had come thru the grill off a big truck and ruptured 2 tubes in the front of the radiator. I overheated and was stranded. Filled with water and got off the next exit about 10 miles, pulled in to fill my water jug and top off the water and noticed the leak. Had some dikes and needle nose pliers. Cut off the bad part of the 2 tubes and bent it over at the cuts. Laster about 6 months and could have gone longer but I upgraded to personally desgned 4 core and had it built.

They wouldn't even buy it for scrap. Said to much rust, just to bury it alive and it would decompose on it's own.

Jus Kiddin, Jus Kiddin. God only knows you've about screwed the whole damn truck back together replacing rust panels. I just wish to hell you could get some cash saved up and get you a TX, OK, AZ Burb and do a damn POR15 treatment to the body before it stepped a tire back into PA.
