Took a look at that rocker stud that I’d mentioned a while back. Preload is the same, nothing has moved. Put the valve cover back on and went for a cruise. The rain is coming back tomorrow and the leaves are amazing right now.

Haven’t heard from the machine shop yet, but I’m not hurried. I figure it may take him a couple weeks to get to them since he’s a one man operation.

Nice. I am digging the Fall pic's in all the areas of the country. Chad, I love the pines up in the North West where you are. I have only been to that area of the country once but was amazed how the terrain changed so quickly from desert, to rainforest in Northern California.

The wife and I went to a friend's wedding that was in White Salmon, and we all stayed and had the reception in Cascade Locks and Hood River. Absolutely beautiful!
After the wedding we ventured down to SF for a week. Riding north out of SF on highway 1 was amazing.

Hood River is an amazing area. In the winter, you can head from the Portland rain and drive to HR and the weather magically disappears. I imagine that’s good living there- Hood is just south and you can enjoy the snow, and drive back out of it into the sun.

So after a few rounds of 'guess what tank size I have', finally got around to making the new fuel and crossover lines from the Pollack valve. Made a few support stands from some 2" aluminum angle scraps I had.

Are you using any resources to know what goes where? I mean, I know you are customizing here.. but I guess, where does one learn how the whole switch and wiring and plumbing should be setup to ensure it's correct?
I was told from previous owner on my rig, whenever you switched over to the other tank, it would die. So basically, as I'm putting in new tanks and ensuring the lines are clear and correct - I also need to make sure the switch is working too. Lots to do and I'm not sure where to start. :D

IIRC the Pollack valve (87 style for EFI) comes with a diagram of what port goes where. With one being 3/8 and the other being 5/16, half the work is a given. Biggest PITA I had was making the harness so the switch controls the on-off feature of the in-tank pump as well as an indicator lamp as to which tank is in use (have separate fuel gauge for each tank) so I always know what I have in either tank. The last SB I had....too many times I'd be at an 1/8 tank, flip the switch and watch the needle drop further. lol

That looks fantastic. I wasn't happy with the pre bent lines I bought so I ended up having my dad make some. He enjoys that kind of stuff and needs a project to keep him going since he is retired.

Maybe y'all can start making a firewall panel that DOESN'T include the windshield frame so I wouldn't have to make it all myself :D
But...we do... :hidesbehindsofa: The upper cowl is what has the windshield frame attached

Installed some new Osram Night Breaker 220 bulbs in my Hella headlights. Noticed that the shiny reflector had quite a bit of oxidation making them a lot less shiny. Might be time to order some new housings as these are about 17 years old. I doubt that it's possible to shine the current reflectors in the housings up.
So I tested the Osrams over the last few evenings. Very much improved output and brightness over the Hella +50's that have been in for a couple years.

Today the Big Brown Truck delivered my new Hella Vision Plus replacement housings. Identical to the Hellas I installed in 2008 except made in Romania instead of Germany. Nice and shiny reflectors. In looking at the old ones, there is an almost total thin white oxidation haze on the reflectors. Just finished a little nocturnal test drive and the verdict is amazing. The new housings gave the Osrams full potential, and a huge improvement.

I remember changing out the standard 6052 sealed beams to a "better" halogen H6054 when I first got the truck in 1994. Big improvement then. Much bigger improvement over the sealed beams with the Hella's in 2008. Now the "how long will the Osram units last" test begins...
