Bought a vacuum pump and checked the EGR valve.

Finger on valve diaphragm makes the engine slow down, so it is flowing. Will not operate by vacuum- either by the pump (can't build vacuum at all, it works fine on the EFE and my finger, so the pump works ) and won't function with full engine vaccuum.

EGR on order to be in around 4:30 - just in time to get dark.

If the lack of EGR did not cause clatter at WOT I'd ignore the sum bitch.

Out with the old, in with the slightly used. Took the crappy exhaust off my Burb and swapped it with the decent exhaust I had put on my '75 a while back. There's only about 100 miles on the exhaust so why not :) Need to get some turn downs or have someone put some tail pipes on though. The 2 trucks are the same length but the Suburban has a gas tank in the way lol

I agree, but, would probably require a new intake manifold .

I know they make block offs, but don't know what else was done to the engine to make this POS needed.

I would say this is easier, but if you have played with one ...

Box end wrenches only- cannot get a 1/4 wobbler between the valve and carb.

So, a fraction of a turn at a time.

******** be off, though !

Can anyone tell if this is the OE one ?

Im gunna call it the suby smasher lol
Hey my square is a subie smasher too! A <2 year old Subaru made the mistake of hitting my Burb head on a few years ago. Her totaled car left on a flatbed, I drove mine home and slapped a new bumper on it.

I touched it with my own hands for the first time in at least two months. Might even start it up and take it for a drive tomorrow. Hah, if she rubs me the right way I might even take it to work Monday.

Got around to replacing the the radiator with a nice fat 4 core welded aluminum job. Still needs a little bit more fabrication, being so much bigger I gotta find a way to attach the fan shroud.

After months of running a little hotter than I'd like it overheated pretty bad on me last time I drove it to work on a hot day and coolant came out of everywhere (with the temp gauge still reading A-OK, must have had air in there). Found a bunch of thin spots on the tanks and a pin-hole, not worth repairing, even the drain valve twisted the brass when I went to loosen it, thing's done. Here's to hoping that it was just the radiator that took a **** and nothing else broke in the process. She got real hot but I don't think the head gaskets cooked or anything, we'll have to see when I get the chance to put a few miles on

Changed the EGR before it got dark.

I had forgotten I had those hot air tubes for the choke and that they get in the way.

Timed it. Decided later that it was too advanced- put it at 8 BTDC and now it seems to idle a little low, so I may bump it up some tomorrow.

Dam tab is hard to read - hanging over the engine looking down between the water pump and timing chain cover.

3rd time will hopefully be the charm !:winner_third_h4h:

Does it hurt anything if that hot air tube stays open like your picture? My truck has it just lke yours with a 650 eddy on top.

My guess is no if you don't have a carb set up for it. On mine, there are 2, with what look like vaccuum connections to the carb.

If that is right, then not having them hooked up means a vacuum leak.
