The torque bar hasn't been on in forever, i got it and it wasn't bolted at the other end
So what's a cheap way to repair it to just drive for a couple months or so I need to find a case someone doesn't want and replace the cover

Where is it cracked? Probably the reason it cracked is cause it had no torque bar. What is it? 208?

Oh **** man that sucks. Yep you need a whole new case. Or a whole new transfer case. Its probably easier to just find a good working case and swap it.

IF I were you I would try to upgrade to an 88-89 NP241 90' up use VSS for the speed signal, otherwise they fit just fine too.

What transmission do you have?

I don't have the money for a new one, I need to find one that has a broken chain possibly
And it's a th400
The transfer case is a good one, has popped out of gear once in the winter but no other problems, that's why I'd like to find one maybe the back case was broken or something and just switch the fronts

Ya I see. Well if you can find one. You could do that.

Any TH400/4L80 or SM465 with a 208 or NP241 will work to swap.

I guess any 208 will swap case halves if you swap all your internals

I figured it'd be easier to swap he case halves rather than get everything together and need a different slip yoke

No its not the slip yoke its the input gear that is different depending on which transmission you get it from. All the slip yokes are the same.

Then the old t case I had for my 84 Scottsdale with the th350 must have been older, I believe it was a 32 tooth...idk I'm running on fumes and overly excited to go home tomorrow and start work on my house!!!

No it would be 27 splines. The Th400 and sm465 used 32 splines with a 208. But if you just want the case half then it doesn't matter or take the 32 spline input gear out of your broken one and put it into your transfer case from the th350. Or take the whole transmission and transfer case and swap the whole thing lol

Yes 27 spline, it was a couple years ago when I had that truck lol
I knew one was 32 spline
Money is tight so unless the trans/ tcase combo is cheap it's probably not gonna happen, and not this weekend since I'll be back at home and the truck is at my apartment

Instead of randomly placed trees and poles we now have piles of stuff in the rear view mirror.

Oh, and I need one of those mirrors for my truck. One more thing to add to the list.
