I'd take a 454 with an SM465 too, could you throw in your gas card too?

I'm hoping that if I throw that in I can get at least 10 mpg or better sometimes in a 2wd 1/2 ton truck... Am I dreaming? Motor and tranny came with complete manual swap parts, hydraulic clutch set up, pedals and brackets, crossmember, steering column, radiator and shroud. All I really need is the cab hump and the wiring fixed that is in the truck now. Thought it was too good a deal to pass up.

10 mpg or better is perfectly do-able, with emphasis on the "or better".

the frame on this truck was bent I was going to part this truck out but I scored a good chassis for it. so I started swapping the chassis out on it yesterday and got it almost done today.

the old chassis had 3'' drop spindles front and drop brackets and shackles on the rear.

I plan to use those parts on another build so I am doing a axle flip rear and for now cut the front coils on the new chassis to get it down.

the first pic is the almost together on the new chassis. second is the bent frame leftovers. third before starting the swap

Put a oil pressure sending unit on so the gauge in the dash works. It previously only had a mechanical gauge. I need to get a bushing so I can re-install the mechanical gauge. Or get a tee so I can also install the oil pressure/choke switch. However that connector is fried so I currently have a jumper wire in there to complete the circuit.

Started troubleshooting my cruise control. It works intermittently.

Bought a battery hold down that I didn't have and ordered a new brake light switch. The brake lights didn't work yesterday morning but I wiggled the switch and they started working. Figured it is time for a new switch.

What does MPG Mean? my 82 k10 used to get when i tracked it 14 MPG.... my 10 2500HD Z71 gets about the same, glad i get 55 Cents per mile for most of the miles i put on it.

Personally once i get Brownie done i won't worry about MPG's that much as it gets a tank of fuel ran through once every 3 to 6 months, and yes i run only 100% fuel in that one and try to in th 2010

Had truck repainted, new seat covers.

You're obviously a Newbie. Don't come in here talking repaint and new seats and not post pics. That's how people get banned around here. :laughing1:

Ugh. Dude wiring harness swaps is a LOT of work. Do a TON of research and be very prepared for an incredibly time consuming project. Good luck!

Biggest pain I've encountered swapping a harness is getting the wiring off the starter. Thats a pain to simultaneously hold the starter up with one hand while trying to take a small nut off to get one wire off the solenoid. There is one bolt on the fuseblock holding the engine/light harnesses on, some clips and what not. It's not too bad a job. On trucks as old as ours the harness should probably be removed and R&R'd anyway.

If I can find a good oem harness I'll use it but I haven't been able to find one. I've called several junk yards and have been searching craigslist. I'm already not original (motor) so I'm not really worried about that quite as much. Just want to get it in god running condition, then assess the trans swap and bodywork idea.

Have you tried car-part.com? There are a few on there for trucks from 1985-87.

Does blowing up the transmission count?
Apparently there were more problems in the transmission then just a bound up governor. Took the truck up on the freeway and the trans went South on me. Had to limp it home in first gear at 5 MPH.
