swapped the steering wheel, fixed the turn signals, figured out the dome light issues, temp fixed the reverse lights, and some other stuff. its been a long time since i worked on a gm product even though i have my caprice that i need to fix.

Knock on wood !!! If it were a Ford, you'd be working on it daily. Be thankful

Water pump on a ford.... back in highschool i had an 85 F150 had to change the thermostat a $4 part..... putting the water pump back on the tab broke, .... and i think that replacement i ended up taking half of the radiator out..... one and only Ford i've owned.

Well, yesterday, I got one of the headers installed. Took about 8 hours to do the driver side. Passenger side should be much faster.

Drove about 350 miles round trip to pick up a couple of 250 L6 engines. One will get rebuilt for my C10 and other I'll sell at some point. Got two of em because I only wanted one so he gave me two for the price of one, he just wanted them gone.

Finally decided to do something about the porch sized rear bumper on the suburban... Not completely finished but almost. I'll do a new thread on it when I'm done, already a huge improvement....

A rear end shouldn't be to hard to find. That thing is clean !!! Get some gear in it, you'll love it alot more. It prolly has 2.56 or 2.73's in it now. Find some 3.23 or 3.42's.

Not without an adapter plate to the Olds 307. 700r4 comes only in Chevy bell pattern, 200-4r's all came in dual pattern to fit all GM motors. You can also build a 200-4r to hold up fairly well. Art Carr claims to build them to hold up to 1000hp.

My buddy's monte has that transmission and is gutless... and the 78 Pontiac Grand Lemans safari Wagon I had back in the day had one that didn't hold up... but that's my only experience with them... th400 could go there couldn't it? Either way I still like the 373's... lol

eventually i would like to put a nice Rocket 350 in it and better gearing. but i think its just a busted axle. who knows. i havent had the chance to tear into it yet and with 226k on the clock, who knows whats up in the rear.

as for the trans, its a jasper unit. the previous owner to me kept it up nice. new carb, new trans, swapped FROM hydroboost due to 3 NEW GM units dieing in a year. his cost was insane so he went vac and no issues since. the only complaints i have are the wheels suck, and i cant find the proper adapter plate to put a nice stereo into it. oh and the cruise doesnt work, as usual. i have never had a gm car, or truck, where the factory cruise worked.

i'll most likely pull it up this summer and see what i can do about the rear. it still moves under its own power but clunks as it goes along. i'll get it fixed eventually. i miss driving that supertanker.

Our 86 SS monte has A 200r and 3.73's factory and that car can get up and go.
