+1, those valve covers are real purdy. Of course, since they don't say "GMC" they're dead to me.

I wish they made gmc ones too.

Swapped the windshield in mine today successfully. Tore the front clip off the parts rig yesterday...

It's still Chevrolet Division GMC motor. I'd have no problem running Chevrolet Logo Valve covers on a GMC. Infact, I have for many years in my 64 GMC and never even considered it an issue that it was in a GMC truck. It's a Chevrolet motor.

I know it's a Chevy engine, I just don't like to mix-n-match logos. I'm funny that way.

What gets me is the guys who do Cummins swaps into Squares and open the hood and you see this biggo DODGE RAM on the Intake Plenum. What a shame. At least do some grinding on the thing and get rid of the DODGE junk.

Well Ugly truck turned 100,000 Saturday so I put in new rear brakes, axle seals, and U-joints. Should be good for another 100k. I've just about got this thing all mechanically rebuilt...guess it's about time I tackle the paint.

While I have no square of my own any more, I am living vicariously through Raylanr's soon to be former 1973 C30 and his new 1988 R20 crew cab. I went over and diagnosed the crew cab today with my ALDL cable and saw it has a code 32 but the SES light wasn't on (though it does at bulb test), so it seems the code is stored and the computer needs reset. We will soon be doing a few Retro-Mods to it as well.

Some quick work on the '86 Burb this afternoon. Changed the fuel filter, added the rear 2 bolts to the junk carb and plugged up all the open vacuum ports I could find.

I now have a relatively driveable 'Burb and not a driveway ornament!

:peace::peace::peace::peace:

Diesels like a M*tha when I shut it off hot now. The thermostatic choke pulloff has got to be toast.

I got my rebuild kit and I'm going to tear into the Edelbrock Q-Jet this week, hopefully the swap to a correctly rebuilt carb will get rid of the rest of the gremlins.

After that, on to the Front brakes, since the wear indicators are squealing.

...Or, that was one of the unplugged lines that I capped.

Here's what I have been working on for my 73. It's a .060 350 w/ Eagle crank, hyper flat tops, a Comp XE 268, Dart Iron Eagle SS Vortec heads topped off with a Summit Racing stage 3 Vortec intake and a 600 CFM Eddy. I'm close to getting it put in, just waiting on a buddy to finish powder coating the oil pan and some brackets.

Neat!

What's the convertible in the background? Buick? Looks like quite a project.

Finally got around to changing out the tranny fluid/filter/gasket. The gasket has been leaking like crazy and the fluid was a nasty brown. Pulled the pan and the fluid looked pretty good, but thats probably because I kept needing to top it up every other day. Found that the gasket was TRASHED and apparently the tranny ate the element out of the filter, but oh well it seems to be running good now!

WOW! Good eye Josh...yes it's a Buick. A 69 Buick Skylark to be exact. It has a 6.0 LQ4 w/ a 4L80 and a 9" rear. Its been a lot of work for 2 years now. There isn't one square(body) inch of the car I haven't touched. My first car was a 69 Buick GS 350 California so....here I am.:happy160:

It was a complete basket case when I got it, but I have since replace a lot of metal. I finished all the metal work last winter/this spring and will finish getting ready for paint this winter.

Niiiiiice. Look like you're on track with a plan, judging from the chassis pics. It's gotta be nice seeing a project come together like that.
