As it says, what bulb do I use for the stock cargo lamp? The one I pulled was an 1142, but that is nearly impossible to find. Would something else work in its place?

You could probably use same as the done light bulb that's not the cross bulb. I forger the #. I know I snagged the one out of the scrapped truck since I needed on the K1500.

It has two contacts, I'm just curious if I can use a more common bulb (think sylvania silver or whatever) instead. I'd like to get a bit more light out of it if possible. I'm having a hard time figuring out what is compatible.

If you do melt your lens you can still buy a new one at GM.. for 25 fricken bucks.. Stay with a lower watt build and add a under the box rail light..

IIRC, I have a spare one laying around. It's a bit dingy but it'll still work. I haven't seen it in awhile though, so good luck having me find it.

And then you don't have to worry about the lens melting either. :waytogo:

Got my led bulbs off of amazon since I was unable to find one local. Also added a clear lens from LMC.
