What are these holes for?

I got new inner fenders for my 85 k10 and like the old ones they have holes for something at the bottom of the cab end of the inner fender.
The old ones have long sheet metal screws in the holes but nothing attached to them. did they have a mud flap or something?

It is for a plastic shield piece that is usually broken and gone.

Thanks joe. I've never seen one before, but it would be a good idea to shield the cabs underside.

Ok so I've never seen this shield before until Jgonick posted a pic of one. Then an hour later I'm looking at an online catalog from AMD and BAM there they are. Weird how that works
