I have a 85 silverado K20 with a TH400. I would like to install a 7004R. only place i could find was advanced adapters. They want near $500.00 for a 32 spline shaft and a spacer. I will pay that if i have to, but would like to now how hard it would be to find a used 27 spline shaft from a 700, and a adapter, to bolt up to my 208TC. I have looked and looked, or maybe i dont know the correct wording for these parts on google to find used parts if any are available, or are these parts scarce?? Thanks!!

It may be cheaper to find the 208 t-case that came behind the 700r, than to adapt yours. I know my '87 has that trans and t-case set up, and it's also a /34 ton.

A '73 didn't come with an np208, are you sure that's what you have?

EDIT! Nevermind, I had a brain fart!

....'85

You can just get an NP208 that was behind a 700r4 and be done with it.

How do you use the truck though? A 700r4 isn't the best choice.

Just as a DD.

problem is not the TC. the 32 spline on the TC can be swapped out for a 27.
the problem is getting a shaft and adapter to use on the 700R4:Insane:

Right now I have a TH400

That''s the point. some of these trucks came from the factory with the driveline you want. It may be cheaper to find the factory parts than buying the adapters and shafts to replace on what you have.

Thats the problem i have in my local area. I cant find no parts in junk yards.
I go to these 4X4 shops and all they do is suspension lifts. Sucks for me LOL:yawn:

That does suck. I'm planning on pulling the 700r and 208 from my truck. Just can't do it yet.

I've already got a sm465 and 205 t-case sitting on the garage floor. I'm planning a frame up resto, and still in the part collecting phase. So I can't disassemble it yet. Otherwise, you'd be welcome to 'em. Never been fond of automatics myself, just don't trust them.

Why. Couldn't people order these trucks the way we want them when they were new? Lol.

1985 k20 came in 2 packages. heavy duty tow package with TH400( I got this 1) and standard duty with 700R4. This was an option for this truck. I just dont need such a heavy duty truck.

Mine must be the standard duty then, I just wish the manual trans was a more popular option.
