Mine says 6.2 diesel on my truck just beloew the emblem you pictured, maybe yours said 454????

Id have to agree about it being engine size. One way to know would be to check LMCTRUCK they have most all of the original style emblems might be able to figure it out that way too

That's all there is on a gas truck. As stated the diesels had a 6.2 logo on theirs.
Alkso on the "C" pillar behind the rear door there should be a "3+3" emblem. This spot might also say "Camper Special" if so optioned.
