I bought a complete 1966 running 292 for $400 with all the brackets, mounts, etc. Don't expect more than that. Yes, yours is pretty Chevy orange (wrong color for a 292), but what do the internals look like. Does it run?

One thing that will help you is if you’ll be more specific about the crate motor - is it a reman engine or a genuine brand new replacement Goodwrench item ?
What year was it meant for - from the looks of the type/style of motor mounts it’s intended to be for a ‘60~’72 truck ?

At some point in the ‘80’s all Goodwrench 292 block castings were made in Mexico so that’s why it’s casted in the block.

Be more specific about what you got and you just might get more money than a reman motor will bring.

Nah I’ll just keep it for that price. It’s got zero miles, still has the plastic covers in all the holes. I think you scored on the $400 complete engine for sure though. What’s the correct color?

I’m trying to tell you that if you verify that it’s an actual NEW ( as in NOT REMANUFACTURED ) engine you can get much more out of it.
There’s a difference in value from a remanufactured engine with no miles on it and a brand new engine with zero miles on it…

The basic 292 colors varied over the years - early on they were Alpine Green, then up to ‘76 they were orange but from ‘77 through the early to mid-eighties it was GM corporate blue and finally from the mid-eighties to 1990 it was black.

That makes sense for factory installs. I think all the Goodwrench V8s were black, don't know about the sixes.

It’s a new engine although good luck finding any paperwork on it here. My dad bought in the 90’s for this old flatbed he was going to build and never got around to it. It was black originally, and was on a crate with plastic wrap around it. Every once in a while we’d squirt some oil down the spark plug holes and give it a turn.. my brother is the one that rattle canned it orange and put it on the engine stand.

Those are the details you need to give when initially asking about price worthiness - not everyone will understand right from the start that the Goodwrench is a NEW item.

Just trying to help you get the most outta what ya’ got by getting you to put those important details out there upfront when you’re asking about the value of what you got.

Bottom line, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. List it for what you want, and see what offers you get.
