I own a 1987 R10 truck, I've been having issues with the ignition moudule blowing out, the voltage will spike to 18 volts and just kill the module. I've replaced the Coil, ignition module, disributor cap and rotor button, it has new plugs and plug wires. Back in January I put a new aftermarket intake manifold on the truck, doing this I was not able to bolt the coil back on the manifold because of no room. I mounted the coil by the distributor on the firewall, everything else on the truck was the same. Would repositioning the coil be causing the issue or can you mount the coil in any way. I've never had this issue before. I wouldn't think mounting the coil at an angle would matter, any help would be appreciated. Also I've never replaced the alternator either, could there be an issue with that. Everything else on the truck has been replaced.
