i like cork valve cover gaskets but i hate the gorila snot its a bitch to clean off.
i use rtv silicone to glue the cork gaskets on the valve cover.

smear it thin around the valve cover put the cork gasket on then stab the bolts threw to align it let it sit for a little bit then bolt it on.

i have had the black rubber valve cover gaskets crack i hate them i have about 5sets that came with complete gasket sets in my tool box and can't give them to any of my buddies they use cork as well.

and for a tranny pan cork is the only way to go no rtv or anything just the cork gasket napa has the cork tranny pan gaskets.

I fukin hate cork geskets, never were a +. They always leak/bust. Rubber gaskets FTW.

I've never been a fan of cork either. BUT, installed properly I know they can work, but I still prefer neoprene over any of them. The bad about cork, is most people over tighten them. They they see a leak and what do they do? Tighten them some more. And tighten some more, now you've dimpled your bolt holes in the valve covers and you can give up on ever getting them to seal right without taking the covers off and removing the dimples with a ball peen hammer and starting over.

I have used the yellow weather strip adhesive in the past, and it's time it was the thing to use way back then. Then RTV came about and no reason to use it. That was actually before my car working days actually, but it was an old timer who told me about that truck. And in the day when you have a choice of hard drying Permatex gasket sealer or the Yellow snot, trust me, the Yellow snot was a God sent product in comparison. But I agree, that is all over now with the products we have today.

I often use small amounts of gorilla snot on water pump and timing cover gaskets.
