Unistrut roof rack?

Hey guys, I have a 1986 GMC suburban 2500 with stock bolt locations that look like brass rivets for the factory roof rack

I was looking to do a roof rack with lights and was wondering if anyone ever tried to use Uni strut for this?

I have built one before on a sprinter van, but I’m not sure about how to attach the unit strut to the actual roof. If anyone has any suggestions on adapters that could bolt to the uni strut, or a way to attach the unit directly to the roof and still leave. Space, so it is not metal on metal I sure would appreciate it

don't know what they are called, but there are screw in rubber bushings of different sizes.

Is this the size I need for the factory roof rack rivets? I have the rivets on the roof still but I think the previous owner put silicone in them so there’s that lol

The ones shown are metric so i would say no.
I would think maybe a 1/4 20, best test fit first.
The last thing you want is for those riv-nuts to start turning on you, then the headliner has to come down! Anyway, I recommend using a thread chaser first, good luck
