I just installed new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Now my idle is very hi. Why would this be and how do I adjust. 1986 K10 v6.

sounds like the distributor moved some. like you advanced it.

See if the distributor hold down bolt it loose. If it is, turn distributor clockwise to retard it some. Tighten distributor clamp bolt down and check your timing.

Very well could be the motor is now more efficient and just running better overall. So get a screw driver, and turn the idle screw down a tad on the carb. Go for a drive and see how it does.

Have you timed it with a light? As Ben said, maybe you bumped the dizzy without realizing it and advanced the timing a hair and raised the idle that way. Unless your dizzy is very loose, probably not, but worth checking.

So I turned down the idle, that did not help. I checked the timing and it seemed to be ok. The idle screw is not touching anything so adjusting it did no good. Any other ideas.

If the idle screw is NOT touching anything, then that means your Choke is overriding the linkage. You need to find the high idle cam and look for a screw. Probably on the other side of the carb, passenger side with the choke mechanism.
