Based on reading online it sounds like this 4-speed with Low gear is a Muncie SM465 and the 4x4 Transfer case is NP205 - any recommendations for bolt pattern identification or otherwise?

Where the truck currently sits boxed in can’t easily crawl under, but will move soon.

Thanks - barn find vehicle has sat for over a decade. Thinking new fluids for transmission and t case in the future after complete tuneup otherwise.

So really,... a long range shot of the shifter where we can't actually read the shift pattern, and a close up of the X-fer case shifter with the mirror covering most of the markings?

Do you think any of this through, or is this supposed to be a challenge?

It's an SM465 four speed. Pretty sure it is a NP205 also. If it were a 203, it would have had 4 Low Lock or something to that effect on the furthest ahead shift position. In 1976, 203 or 205 would be the only T-case options. I am not sure if they put 203's behind many manual transmissions in 1/2 tons. I haven't personally seen one anyway.

Yeah, that's a 205. The stick is round, which is a dead giveaway. 203 had a rectangular stick and was also rarely found behind a 465.
