Here is the difference in the length between the transfer case “control rod” used with the 4L80E and all other transmissions on the 81 up NP208 and NP241 cases.

Top is the 1991 only 4L80E rod.

Bottom one came from an 89 700/241 case, but is exactly the same as the one on my 465/208 case.

May be good reference for someone doing a 4L80 swap, or trying to figure out what rod they have.

From the 1991 parts book

Top 15629484 (w/MT1)(1991)
Btm 14029112 (exc MT1)

That works for me.

My 700R4 to NP208 was slated to cut and weld to the longer spec.

4L80-E to NP208 is approximately 1-3/4" or 1-11/16" longer due to the 4L80 larger case.

The part numbers help.

These guys used the top part number for the shorter version on this website:

Wonder if this would work?

10-3/8" to 11-7/8"

Not sure the bolt is sized correct though?
It looks like the ends of the black tubing could be trimmed an inch off each end and still work for a shorter throw?

If you want to part with the longer version and the threads can be cleaned, I could use one from a forum member rather than cut a solid OEM unit or buy the Dodge part.
