Hello everyone, thanks for allowing me to join. I've been building these squarebodys for 50 years or so. I have some crazy stories. Now retired and living the dream with my highschool sweetheart. Thought I would join this group and maybe offer some assistance. Currently working on my '84 M1028 CUCV military truck with 15,000 original miles. Been restoring / rebuilding it since 2010. Almost ready to install the new P400 engine / 700R4 transmission / NP241 transfer case.

Call me crazy... but that front wheel looks photoshopped. Looks like the tire is outside the fender in front of that inner nose piece. How long did the CUCV use drums in the front? Also truck looks great. And the knowledge you should be able to provide is always welcome!

Welcome from Comifornia!

Welcome aboard. Thats a nice looking CUCV, very clean. What are the specs on the wheels and tires?

I built the wheels in 1985 to go on a brand new GMC K30 SRW. Bought 5 new Firestone 8" x 20" split rims and had my machine shop mill/install the centers from 1/2" cold-rolled steel. I ran those wheels for 250,000 miles over 10 years running between Georgia and Wyoming to deer hunt. I wore that truck completely out and sold it, but kept the wheels. When I started building my CUCV in 2010, I decided to install the wheels on it. 5" lift with Zero-rates to re-center the axles in the fender wells. Tires are new military 12-ply 11.00/20 NDT with new flaps and new tubes. Running 16 ounces of Dyna-Beads in each wheel for perfect balance. The truck runs down the road as smooth as my wife's Mercedes.

I also have, and currently installed, 16.5 HMMWV tires and wheels. Here's a photo of those -

Well, you asked for it - you are crazy LOL! I can assure you that there is no Photoshopping on my photos. No drums in front, original GM discs. Also converted the rear brakes to discs. Did you mean to say Californicate?

Amazing! Now thats a one-off wheel lol. Great stance with the 20" combo. A nice tribute to the old school but with modern sizing.
