Soooo, have some $$, and stopped by a nib down the road, and going to go down there on Sat., with a load of cash. I believe it is a 1977, short/step with a canopy, no significant rust, 454. Ran when parked. Five years ago this guy had twenty rigs, some I have been lusting after for awhile, but he wont sell. Then the 2020 fire burned his house and everything EXECPT this truck, so a blessed machine i'm thinkin'. He is now willing to talk price, so looking forward to a closeup look at this truck. If the body is straight, but not running, around here they are going from 2500-4500 like that. I will start low and go from there.
Craig - post the VIN (The prefix, not the serial portion) and I can tell you the model year and probably engine option.

If you have the SPID it will show on there. If you don't have the SPID then you should be able to order the original invoice from the GM heritage center archive.

I’d say you’d be more likely to find a short bed step side 454 C10 that does have the F44 rpo (big ten/heavy half) than not, as (until 1979) that would get you a truck without emissions equipment. The muscle truck thing really started with the F44/F150/D150s.

And with the general ‘Truckin’ movements of the 70s where trucks definitely were becoming play toys/drivers/leisure vehicles, a savvy buyer would probably opt for a few more options if going with a big block. Compared to the Kansas farmer that wanted a 250 six, three on the column, manual brake, manual steering, etc.

It is not rare, bummer. It is a long bed fleetside, 350. However the body is pretty good, inner wheel well ruster where they all do, at the bolt in inspection panel, couple nickel size spots on the front fender. Thanks Keith, that is why I come here, folks like you.
