Unfortunately, a builders tag doesn't tell you **** about the condition it's in since it was rebuilt. Core value at best.

I think you are hung up on it being from a diesel truck. Being from a diesel application really doesn't change the value at all. Anyone buying it is probably going to rebuild it and set it up for the shift points they want anyway. The only things that are really important is knowing the length of the output shaft and knowing if it's a 2wd unit or a 4x4 unit.

There isn’t any difference between a gas or diesel TH400 trans other than the torque converter, and the valve body calibration. There were a few durability upgrades made in the early years, towards the mid 70s GM started cutting corners to save money. The brass thrust washers were replaced with plastic, the good cast aluminum pistons replaced with stamped steel, etc.

Exactly! But if you sell it for a lot, I have three of them in my storage shed I'll sell you cheap, that way you can make a real bundle of cash! But unfortunately mine have no TV cable, LOL!!
