3 weeks ago I blew out my torque converter literally at 100 miles into a 200 mile ride home
Any way that problem was fixed in a few days (work and school) now the problem is that when I try to crank the truck it spews tranny oil out of the bottom of the dipstick tube
It's not overfilled
Tube just seems like it won't sit in it
Any ideas?
I'm bout to go insane not being able to drive anywhere

:hmm: I'm even stumped on this. Normally I'd say you just need to replace your dipstick O ring and call it good. But, being you recently blew out a TC, and now you're blowing fluid out when cranking the motor??? This is making want to lean towards another issue with the trans. Like a relief valve is hung up, or relief port is clogged, or pressure regulator valve in the pump has gone goofy or something. What's the history on the trans if you know any? Recently rebuilt? I'm wondering if someone didn't use a wrong spacer plate gasket of used some hard parts that aren't compatible with each other.

Ran fine since I bought it last march
There is a receipt for a rebuild in 2010
But it hasn't had problems till now
Pan was off to drain and replace filter while I had it out and cleaned it with gasket and o-ring safe solvent
Pan was put back on I filled it to cold mark and now it's just spitting it all back out

Had you by any chance pinched off a cooling line when you installed the new conveter? Anyway the cooling lines are clogged? How about the filter dropping out? Did you use the flat type that stays in place by one bolt?

Like it has pressure but not a lot of it
And yes filter is flat with one bolt and the lines all look good

Yep, I figured it had some pressure behind it. It does sound to me a cooling line might be blocked, or a vent of bypass valve, or even the pump pressure regulator valve. Maybe something as a sticky valve.

I never really got into the deep diagnosis with gauges and such, because if it didn't work, it needed a rebuild anyway, so it didn't really matter why or what went bad, but in this case, a set of gauges hooked up might be able to tell something. As in, if pressure is to high at particular speeds, in certain gears etc, it could help in diagnosis what's wrong. There is a valve in the pump of a 400. It could be hung up and it be as easy as pulling the pump off and freeing the valve in a sticky bore or a piece of debris has it wedged and stuck. Wish I could be more help on this matter. If I have a brain fart and come up with something, I'll sure post back. And my by all means, if you get it figured out, please let us know.

There was a piece of some wire or other that was in my line
Found out on of the friends helping me stuck it in there as a joke
Imma kill him
Anyways it's not spitting out now just dripping
So I'm guessing it blew out the gasket at the bottom of the dipstick

Somethings aren't to damn funny. If that had been a 700r4 you'd been needing a $1500-$1800 transmission in a very short order.

Yes
And there's 3 rules
1. Don't mess with another mans money
2. Don't mess with his girl
3. And you sure as hell don't mess with his truck
I'd killed them if it went down the road and I'd be out a transmission

Growing up, back in the day... our list was a little different.

Don't mess with...
#1 A man's truck,
#2 A man's dog,
#3 A man's money.

That was because, in most cases, it was the girl who initiated the other guy, so fugg the bitch, and just go get another one.

I still don't understand how a trans problem can make the dipstick tube seal leak. If the trans was building pressure, fluid would just go up and out the tube. Is it a locking dipstick?
