The dash connectors are the same. The only difference is the 87 switches have a nub on one of the prongs so they can’t be plugged into an 85ish harness, but you can grind that nub off with a grinder and they work the same.

I just used female spade connections on the back side of the ’87 switch. I much rather would have used a pig tail with the appropriate harness plug if I could have found one.

One thing to note is the switch didn’t fit in the hole for my 1980, I hade to grind the hole in the dash larger to get it in. It also doesn’t match the contour of the older dash perfectly but isn’t terribly noticeable.
