I'm thinking of removing the bed sides on 85 so I can do some rust repair on them over the winter. My question is I see four ugly welds on the post, Is this the way it was done at the factory or has it been removed before?

Thanks, Dan

My 85 had no welds and my 84 does, but I know for a fact that the 84 welds are not factory.

MadOgre, if your 85 has no welds what's holding it in place?
It looks like there might be a couple bolts under the bed floor from it to a bed channel, but I got to get a better look under there this weekend. Is that all you have holding it ?

That was years ago. I remember it wasn't welded because I unbolted both sides and had no issues removing them with just a wrench.

My current one is due to be replaced and has been welded with angle iron.
