So I got cracking on my transmission, looks like desert floor. It gets worse closer to the transfer case end. I was gonna get it rebuilt, now I'm thinking of buying a new or refurbished etc. So is it rebuildable or should I go with a new one? Is the cracking normal if not what caused it??? I'm guessing heat.

That’s normal casting marks. Nothing to worry about.

Poor man’s crack detection: spray paint. Clean it up, make sure there is no oil on it, give it a coat of paint. If there is a crack the paint will seep in and make it visible enough for Stevie Wonder to see it.
