Has anyone had to deal with this its hot in az, truck has to cool down to get it to start after driving it. I was thinking putting a remote solenoid on it to get it out from underneath next to headers.

I use a Ford solenoid for direct 12 volts to the starter makes a big difference, but if you have tight piston to cylinder wall clearance shields and remote solenoids won't help in 110* weather, I had a dually with that problem I ended up tearing it down and honing the cylinder walls out and that cured it no more hard starting in the heat..

I have a aluminium shield on the starter and heat wrap on the headers by the starter. It really only runs hot with the ac on. With it off it runs at 200 all day that little load spikes it up to 230
