speedo questions

Wheel size won't matter a thing, it's the tire size so tire height is known that will matter. Only thing a cluster will matter for is it you have a total analog cluster with just a speedo cable, an analog cluster with a VSS signal converter for Cruise Control and ECM for TBI trucks, or Full Electronic Speedo used in later TBI trucks that people are looking for to use with LS Swaps where a VSS on the transmission is used.

Yeah, I was being lazy and using "wheel" as total tire. But they should be 11% off of stock tire height. But Im at somewhere between 30-33% off. This truck is all original, so its just a speedo cable and gears. I just like to know how fast I am going so the popo dont catch me riding dirty, or giving them a reason to even hassle me.

Do you have a GPS or Smartphone I'm sure you do. Download a speed app and check it vs your speedo and keep that in mind when Barney Fife is around.

I use DigiHUD App. It's pretty cool. You can lay your phone on your dash and have it in Heads up Display on your windshield. It has 3 trip odometers built in, compass, time Max MPH that you traveled that can be reset, your avg speed etc. You can change the colors and the brightness and all that good ****. Even set speed alarms with audible or the max speed just changes color for a visual only alert.


I'd advise having velcro on the back of your phone and on your dash as well as a car charger on your phone while using it if you use it full time.

I edited this to say DigiHud App, I use it in HUDView mode. You can use it in standard view too if you just want to lay it on your seat or console.

So if my drive gear is gray (and it has to be because there isnt another close to it: gray, red, blue, yellow, brown), and if the driven gear is either 19 (dark aqua), 34 (light green), or 42 (green), then the gear ratios are:

15/19 = 0.7894736842105263
15/34 = 0.4411764705882353
15/42 = 0.3571428571428571

Then the only ones that are 30% ish off would be the 19 and 34... and Im assuming that if the speedo is 30% ish under than what I am doing, I need to spin faster, so I would need the 34 tooth gear...... correct?
