Sparying high build primer bad texture

This is my first time using a spray gun and I'm havin a bit of trouble. I'm using finish 1 primer and a harbor fright gun. I mixed it correct and have my air at 50 psi at compressed and 30 psi at gun. The primer texture is like The wall of a house , smooth but textured. What am I doing wrong isn't high build sopose to go on really smooth?? It takes me like 3 slow passes to cover a spot. Pls help. Tip size is 1.4

Mix in less air, and check your pressure drop at the gun when you squeeze the trigger. How long is the air hose you're using? Longer hose has a sharper pressure drop. Also what kind of gun is it? Syphon feed or gravity feed?

It's a maybe 15 20 foot hose. Its a gravity gun it's the $20 from harbor fright. I got the compressor regulator at 50 psi and he gun reg set at 30

Thin out the primer just a bit. I used to use those Harbor Freight guns all the time to shoot primer, they work fine and can produce a good finish. It's likely just the primer you are using.
