Hi, I'm looking at buying a used sliding rear window for my 86 K20. I've found a few, but when searching for a new gasket all I find say not compatible with OEM sliding rear window. Any ideas or info on this appreciated. Will the gasket from my old solid window work? Also, just realized I posted in Tech instead of exterior. Sorry, would move it if I knew how.

Not available, had to scrap my original OE slider for an aftermarket one when I had the truck painted. Unable to find a clear slider as well.
And no, it won’t

Thanks that sucks. Ya, the reason I was looking at used is I want a clear one. All I could find new were tinted.

^ Are you saying there’s the gaskets for OE sliding windows (not the gasket that seals the window frame to cab) in those 191 parts?
If so, I’m interested because I’ve never seen them for sale.

Just trying to figure this out. Are the OEM windows the ones with the large aluminum trim around them. I've seen a few used with black trim, actually looks like a larger window. Would these be after market??

@Grit dog I just found that c10 glass site and thought I'd share it. Didn't look through it all.

if your slider has a large size aluminum frame its probly a after market window and a normal rear window seal for non sliding window will work.. they dont make one for a factory slider.. i ran thru the same thing..

Thanks, I have not bought one yet looking at a few online. I contacted the gasket manufacturers and a glass shop that does a lot of classic car work. Nobody makes one to fit the original windows. Kinda crazy. Funny, I also thought the ones with the large aluminum frame were OEM. So, if those are after market it narrows things down a bit.. Thanks

So "factory" sliders with clear glass, regardless of frame color have no gaskets available? This is crazy. Surely with 15 million trucks made and the resto craze in full swing someone must be planning to repop these, no? If not someone is missing a big opportunity. How hard could it be? Maybe it's a licensing issue? I mean I can see the issue with the 83-84 GMC grille having a small target audience but the slider gasket? So many people would snag one. This is just odd.

^Yes but I believe it’s true. I’ve been looking for them for a while.
Heck one of the selling points for me of the blue truck when we bought it was the sliding window gaskets weren’t trashed

Scroll down, in the notes says does not work with original slider. Hard to believe.

Do OE solid rear windows have a frame or all glass like the windshield?
If they don’t have a frame I’d expect them to be different.

I've only seen two types. One with a small black frame and others with a larger aluminum frame. Kgc4160 above says he thinks the aluminum frame ones are after market.
