And her '72 Super Beetle, daily #2 of hers (I may have infected her with the Bug bug with mine and she got this from my VW Guru)

I miss my super beetle. Not my favorite bug body style, but really liked the McPherson front end.

I like the lazy eye chrome shades on it!
She wanted to be like the boyfriend's car, my other "sometimes daily".

This one hides away most of the year because I don't want the rust in the floors and the quarter panel "death rot" getting worse.
Comes out every few months for a bit to get abused, it loves rev limiter...

This was toying with making a "hater pipe" out of cheap amazon stuff, shorten the straights and put a tractor flap on it.
Hold it on the 4500 limiter then let off and it SNEEZES.
Temporary clamp on thing, never got around to doing it.
I was trained to be abusive to this poor little car by @Catbox , both of us given the same advice from the VW Guru: Drive it like you hate it.

We've had ours for 21.5 years now, grew up in and working on this car.
@Catbox has the ancient photos of engine work, me pulling the transmission on my 9th birthday to install the pro street, etc.
Learned to drive stick in it at 10 whilst sitting at a birthday party my sister was attending.
Got it after I graduated and held up my end of the "no d's or f's in highschool" deal.
I personally much prefer the late model cars, never liked the early headlights and tiny tails, definitely love my Cadillac ride in comparison to a torsion beam car...

Of the supers I definitely prefer the 1302 to the 1303. Mine was a 1303 and I never did like the curved windshield compared to the flat one.

I was taught quite the opposite from the guy I learned VW stuff from. He always said 55 stay alive. That’s why I always dreamed of a 901 5 speed in my beetle.

I prefer the 1303, '73 specifically to stay away from the fugly shock absorbing bumper mounts and it's easier to get lower.
Girlfriend's car is a '71 1302, feels weird to drive/ride around in with the windshield being right there.
The dash to me looks better in the later cars, more finished out.
Only downside is the passenger wiper hangs off the curve an inch or so until it begins to wipe.

My little car gets abused, goes down the freeway at 65-70 (like 3500-3800 rpm).
Its a gutless little single port 1600 that has been wore out since we got it as a "temporary" engine, solid 1/4" of endplay the whole time.
Dual carbs woke it up some and its always had way overkill exhaust on it.
Its driven with my foot on the floor probably 75% of the time, gotta make sure the rev limiter still works.
It'll be getting wide fiberglass fenders and a set of 944 "cookie cutter" wheels eventually.

This is my daily, Raven Lord, which is a anagram for Land Rover. We were out on the trail to High Rock Point in the very tip of the UP, made a run over to the rocket launch site, had a good day on the trails.
It's a 2008 LR3 that cost me the princely sum of $500. Like any other cheap Euro vehicle the buy in is just the start. I have a lot of hours and parts into this thing but these LR3's and LR4's are peak Rover, the bones are durable and the many problems that pop up are easy to sort out with the help of the internet.
If I had to pay someone else to maintain it "i'd have tapped out a long time ago. Kind of like owning a squarebody.

There was a mean VW across the street a few nights back. Idling it sounded like a v8, have no idea what engine was in it, but it sounded healthy.
