Actually I can use any TBI 4.3 what would you pick if it were your project?

If there was any type of budget, I'd try to use the '96-up heads. But honestly, just a basic, early 90's tbi 4.3 is a great engine for a smaller vehicle. Especially with a manual trans and a decent rear axle ratio. I loved my old S10's, especially the 5-speed one. That little 4.3 moved the truck nicely, had power for shenanigans, but could also knock down 26-28 mpg on the interstate.

Behold the mighty 2010, 2wd, 4-cylinder, automatic, Ferd Ranger. Talk about a gutless boring to drive pile. A full tank of gas gets me 3-4 weeks of driving to and from work only. Currently has 130k. One more winter and she's outta here.

I can vouch! My 4.3 is super fun and gas friendly. I believe a 3.08 rear gear in it and it LOVES to spin em on dry and especially wet pavement at the drop of a dime!

Our F350 dually is at MAACO being painted. Before we took it there I removed the rear bumper and running boards, all emblems and replaced the headlights and tail lights.

What I didn’t do is take much time to sketch or photograph where all the bumper and running board brackets etc were and how they were oriented. Felt like a Monkey doin a math problem for a while but think they’re ready to bolt back up when I get the truck back.

All fasteners I removed were replaced with new. Thanks to my fastener collection I had every nut and bolt I needed!

Put probably 8-10k miles on this in the almost 3 years I've owned it, we don't talk about the MPG...

No reason to talk or think about mpg's when the right foot is so heavy

Practically stole these. A coworker’s husband had them sitting in a shed on his late parents farm. They are very well built.

Then the Oreilly I worked at decided to quit selling individual fasteners and my boss asked me if I wanted to buy the stores inventory. Got hundreds of boxes of nuts, bolts, cotter pins, lynch pins etc for $30.00

Yes those cabinets are built VERY sturdy! We had a run of them, two tall(8 drawers, each set has 4 drawers in a cube frame, very modular) across the counter in our last location of the parts store. IIRC it was about a 24' run....also Dorman offered a countertop that was white Formica, screenprinted with their logo plus the hardware drawings like on the front of the drawers. We had to let that go, along with the cabinets, a few years ago.... The local hardware store has this countertop and cabinets, that they got when the original parts store shut down this year. I'll have to get a picture, next time I'm in there....

I have another story about the Dorman cabinets....when we moved our store from Houston to Missouri City, we hauled these in our shop trucks...a load of these with drawers full of bolts and stuff will set a Heavy Half down a little bit! Then when we closed it four years later, we moved em again in the '81. Couple years after that, needed to move em out of the shop so they got a ride in the '79 Burb (both pickups were not running at that time). Had em hanging out on the tailgate a little, with me riding back there to hang onto them.... Yes I've done a few sketchy things in my younger days.
