Actually I can use any TBI 4.3 what would you pick if it were your project?
If there was any type of budget, I'd try to use the '96-up heads. But honestly, just a basic, early 90's tbi 4.3 is a great engine for a smaller vehicle. Especially with a manual trans and a decent rear axle ratio. I loved my old S10's, especially the 5-speed one. That little 4.3 moved the truck nicely, had power for shenanigans, but could also knock down 26-28 mpg on the interstate.
