Another project car I have is this 1970 VW Squareback.
It has VW rear bug fenders that have been fitted to the square fender and then welded on for a widebody kit.
This car has been off the road since 1998 when the PO passed away randomly while in the middle of a carb swap.

I love the look of the car all the way down to the faded purple colored tint work on the windows
It will eventually be getting a fire breathing 2332 engine that I was building for my bug.

This is the difference between a stock 60hp cars carb on the right to one of the two Dellorto 45mm carbs the big engine will breathe through.
The pair of carbs and their 4 butterflies will flow over 1,200cfm all together.
Not to shabby.

Just a little bit of camshaft for it.

But first we just need to get back to the basics and get it back to road quality again.
So the stock engine will have to suffice for a bit.
Big VW engines aren't cheap at all.
I could have built 2 really nice Chevy small blocks for what I have in the 2332.
I still need to buy a new aluminum case for it and those are around $1,100 now.

Since this post was started because of my inspiration, I figured I should also post. As mentioned, I have a 98 Cobra that I use as a track car, it still has a full interior though. I bought it in 08 and it was my first "fun" car. It has a t56 6spd, Panhard bar, adjustable sway bar, upgraded roadrace pan, coil overs, yadda yadda yadda. I did have a fire with it on track but that is another story.

Next up is the GT350, not a whole lot of work with it but I really enjoy this car. We road trip it often as a family. It is FAIRLY stock but does have some subtle upgrades. It was what got me into tracking because I got to attend the GT350 Track Attack at the Ford Performance Racing School in Utah.

Here it is on the Tail of the Dragon, where my daughter got sick in the back seat. Luckily the wife caught the mess in a backpack.

I also "own" a 67 Mustang. I help fund it and its coming to me so I am claiming it. It's my dad's first car, I drove it on my wedding day, and it was the car the got me into cars.

He just got it back from the body shop and is putting it back together after a full repaint and rust repair. I 3d printed some cool parts for that car that started my hobby of 3d printed car parts, you can kinda see the center caps that are body color, I designed them to take the steel wheel center caps and then painted them body color. They were also repainted with the car so they 100% match now.

Lastly, is my way back burner project... The daily F150 Coyote.

I bought it new with 11 miles and now it has just shy of 195k miles. It has the Coyote (can you tell I like V8s?) but what is waiting in the garage to be installed is this:

A 2020+ GT500 supercharger. Ford messed up and had them listed for under $400 so I bought 2. I have most of the parts to do the install but I want to get my GMC done so I have a truck to drive. Yes, I have way too many projects and that is why the Cobra is on the lift and the supercharger is just in the garage.
Man you've got some great toys! I grew up roadracing and autocrossing and always wanted a full on suspension on one of my SN's like a Griggs or something. Me and my dad still talk about building one for AutoX since he's retired but he won't pull the trigger and all my fun money is tied up in the current 2 trucks.

Funny that my C10 will be the first thing I own with a real deal suspension on it (TCI) lol. Although the Mach 1 was the development mule for Ridetech, I got to know one of their engineers cuz his card was still in the glovebox. It had their full coilover setup and somebody's upgraded sway bars, Terminator side skirts and mirors, 99/01 front bumper, longtubes/ORX/Magnapacks, 4.10s. I got it custom tuned and did the wheels/tires/shifter/raised the scoop and some other basic stuff. Never drove it cuz it was too nice and only had 42k miles. Sold it to build the C10 and it got totalled sometime after that :(

Yeah, this is mostly MM stuff on it. A buddy of mine is supposed to make a torque arm for it for his company but he is super backed up with cage builds. I don't use it much but it is still fun to drive, even as slow as it is.

Once I found out he was lifting the rear of the car with the body...

Yanked out all that crap and put all stock stuff back in.
Juan traded the work for the hydro set up, I traded a stock powerglide for a set of stock rear springs.
I also located a new front subframe to replace the one with torched out shock towers.
This is the stock height of the car.

I did not like that.
Juan chopped 1-1/2 coils off the front springs to bring the front down.
Much betters...

In went a set of 3 inch lowering blocks.
I hate this set up as the scrub line is mucho bado.
If I were to get a flat, the spring hardware would drag.
It will be remedied in the future with the open drive line upgrade.

But it gets the desired results of a proper lowered car.

It's still going to sit good and look good at OE height. I think I'd take all that janky crap out and just put NEW OE springs front and rear and be done with it. Safe, no hassles, no BS, just cruise the bish. I hardly noticed it was a 4 Doh Mo Hoe Mobile with those body lines. Awesome car in and out. Yep, I'd just OE the suspension and drive that phat girl.

Man weird how many of us also had/have mustangs lol. I had a 03 GT, then an 04 GT on coilivers, and the last one was a 96 with the 2.73 gears. It got great mileage but had zero power

My current distractions from my 78 C10. The 68 is for sale if anyone is looking for a project

@bucket I'm diggin that wagon, it looks good!

It pictures well. It has terrible, but shiney original paint and lots of cosmetic body rust. It went on Power Tour last year and we will be leaving in it on Sunday for Power Tour again this year.

My dad's first car was the 67, he also had a square. This apple didn't fall far from the tree.

Never heard of an aluminum block 305. Now I wouldn't be surprised if he used an aluminum Buick 215. That was later sold to Rover and was put in landrovers and TR8s. I could even see an Oldsmobile aluminum 300,due to the similarities to the aluminum 215. Not sure but I think either of those could be close to bolt in using some TR8 MGB GT MGB GT V8 and rover parts.

I believe that the Buick 215 in its Rover incarnation is effectively what was used in the factory MGB-GT V8s.

I agree, they are much better an more comfortable in a daily driver roll than a 4th gen F-body.
